Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems on U.S. Navy ships, using engineering knowledge to troubleshoot problems and ensure everything runs smoothly for the crew.

You'll guide teams on testing and inspecting major equipment to keep operations on schedule.

It's a great fit for someone with hands-on experience in engineering who enjoys working in a technical role within the military or government.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent, applying knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines like mechanical, electrical, and structural
  • Proven ability to resolve complex problems in equipment systems to meet operational deadlines
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy specifications, regulations, and standards for design, maintenance, safety, and operation of shipboard systems
  • Experience providing technical guidance for functional checkout, testing, and inspection of major ship systems
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices to support ship maintenance teams
  • Ability to offer authoritative advice on repairing and overhauling shipboard equipment
  • Relevant paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work, that builds technical competencies

GS: $89,508 to $116,362 To qualify for a GS-12, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines (such as electrical, electronic, mechanical, structural, etc.) Experience resolving complex problems of assigned equipment systems to meet operational schedules.

Experience applying knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance, safety and operation of assigned equipment/systems.

  • You will provide technical services for your assigned ship to directly support the ship's Maintenance Team.
  • You will apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • You will provide technical guidance oversight for functional checkout, test and inspection of major systems.
  • You will provide authoritative technical guidance regarding the resolution of repair/overhaul of major shipboards.
  • You will perform functional checkout of new or modernized shipboard systems.
