The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Technical Training Instructor performing all classroom and hands-on/performance training activities and as a subject matter expert for curriculum development, revisions, and/or modification of technical training courses in the Electrical Systems Schoolhouse.
This is a faculty member position of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), under accreditation, by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC).
Section 9315 of10 USC. Minimum degree requirement of an associate's degree from CCAF or a recognized accredited college or university.
Work or instruction may be conducted indoors or outdoors, subject to cold, heat, and/or dust, in an environment with slippery or uneven walking surfaces and moving parts from machines, objects, or vehicles, on top of ladders or scaffolding, utility poles, and below ground.
Additionally, work may include working around or on live 7200 voltage circuits or less, around radiant energy, and exposure to irritant chemicals and noise.
Employees may be required to apply safeguards and/or use protective clothing or gear such as masks, boots, goggles, hearing protection, gloves, shields, fire retardant suits, cold weather gear, and other personal protective equipment.
Long periods of standing (8 hours per day); walking over rough, uneven, slippery, and/or rocky surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching; climbing up to 40 feet using both hands and feet; lifting (80 lbs and over) and carrying (45 lbs or over).
Use of fingers, both hands, and both legs required. Above-average agility and dexterity are required. The specific visual requirement is normal vision. Normal depth perception is required.
Ability to distinguish basic colors required. Hearing (aid permitted). Rapid mental and muscular coordination are simultaneously required.
Additional functional requirements include freedom from fear of heights. When appropriate, safety toe shoes and/or protective clothing/equipment are required.
Operation of cranes, tractors, motor vehicles, line trucks, bucket trucks, etc.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study.
To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e.
all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-7, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience include 1) Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
2) Supervising or administering a training program. 3) Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
4) Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Master's, or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B.
or J.D., if related to the position of a Training Instructor. My education demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of a Training Instructor.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest Knowledge and skills in Electrical Systems at a practical level to include electrical principles, interior and exterior electrical distribution systems, installing and troubleshooting low and high voltage electrical circuits, common test equipment, common tool usage, safety, publications, electrical codes, and electrical regulations Knowledge of measurement principles, techniques, and instructional design utilizing computer applications Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels Researches, develops, revises and recommends updates to the Electrical Systems course materials in accordance with established learning objectives Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance Inputs necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS) Maintains professional and technical expertise.
Attends courses, conferences, and briefings to increase knowledge of training processes and procedures
