Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines on U.S. Navy ships and submarines, ensuring they are ready for missions.

You'll guide experts, manage projects for efficient maintenance, and advise on technical issues to keep the fleet operational.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Diesel Engine Branch (Code 264), Main Propulsion and Electrical Division (Code 260), Engineering Department (Code 200) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience solving unique and difficult problems affecting the overall system, applying engineering disciplines (e.g.

mechanical, electrical, electronic, and structural). Experience understanding and interpreting plans, schematics, drawings and specifications and making field adjustments/modifications as required.

Experience understanding activity missions, chains of command, organizational objectives, and administrative policies to permit moderately independent operation.

Experience leading a team of government employees, military members and contractors in the performance of assigned tasks and assignments.

Experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing and negotiating solutions to problems.

Experience recognizing and reporting errors, inconsistencies or other deficiencies in technical schematics, drawings.

  • You will serve as the Lead Fleet Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) and Team Leader for the Diesel Engines Branch.
  • You will provide guidance and technical oversight for troubleshooting and repair of Diesel Engines systems and associated sub-systems on board U.S. naval surface ships and submarines as well as overseeing the work of subject matter experts.
  • You will serve as an authoritative Diesel Engines expert and consultant as it relates to the execution of ship readiness.
  • You will coordinate and lead programs and projects involving Diesel Engines to help ensure the correct life cycle maintenance is accomplished as quickly and efficiently as possible for hundreds of jobs.
  • You will be responsible for leading and executing near optimal schedules to achieve maximum value.
  • You will advise the Diesel Engines Branch Head on the relationship and impact of team problems.
