Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Geospatial Support Technician in the Geospatial Section for Seattle District to support Architectural, Engineering, Scientific and Geospatial (AESG) programs.

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-10: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) to assist in producing surveys such as land, boundary, engineering, geodetic, cartographic, topographic, hydrographic, and ultra-precise alignment surveys.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) to generate land surveys and/or dredging charts AND maintaining GIS databases of drawings for department use.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Assists survey group Lead Engineering Technician with operating and maintaining a CADD and GIS system and associated files.
  • Serves as the technical lead for support of orthophoto navigation chart data to regional pilots for navigation and waterborne commerce.
  • Coordinates and generates CADD and GIS production for land surveying and dredging charts between professionals/technical staff and project requesters.
  • Ensures preparation of cost estimates, negotiation, and administration of contracts.
  • Oversees work under the contracts, reviews and accepts completed work and upon completion of contract work evaluates contractor performance in conjunction with the contracting officer's representative.
