Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting Navy construction projects by reviewing plans, coordinating with teams, solving technical problems, and making sure projects stay on time and within budget at a shipyard in Washington.

It's a hands-on role helping manage contracts between the military and private builders, including checking material quality and training junior staff.

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the NAVFAC Resident Officer in Charge of Construction Office of NAVFAC NORTHWEST in direct support of the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing plans and coordinating with stakeholders; 2) Resolving any technical issues; and 3) Ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.

  • You will provide engineering support services in the field of construction contracts primarily between the Navy/Marine Corps/Air Force and private contractors.
  • You will evaluate and assure the quality control efforts of the construction contractor.
  • You will validate quantity, condition, and approval of materials on site prior to invoice payments.
  • You will provide overall coordination of the construction quality management program for assigned projects.
  • You will serve as coach/trainer/mentor for members who have not attained the journeyman level of expertise and experience gained by the incumbent.
