About the Position: This position is located at Naval Hospital Beaufort. Work will be done in an office during normal business hours from 7:00 A.M. -3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, sketches, or specifications in electronic formats; reviewing or assisting in the preparation of contract documents (e.g., Performance Work Statement, PWS; Statement of Work, SOW); participating in quality management activities (e.g., field observations, testing, reporting, sampling, plan review); AND collecting or compiling data for analysis or reporting purposes.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR Education: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education including courses such as engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics, or I have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree in engineering, physical science, or a closely related field, which has equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond two years by 36. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).

Major Duties:

  • Evaluate contracted work for quality, timeliness, productivity, and costs.
  • Inspect Service Order Form to ensure scope of work requirements have been accomplished and are fully satisfactory
  • Monitor contracts and work requests to verify that preventative maintenance complies with The Joint Commission accreditation manual and they are adequately executed and documented.
  • Attend final inspections of completed works orders.
  • Make contact directly with all levels of medical treatment facility personnel to verify completion of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare an inspection report for each inspection by recording in detail the site inspected, the time, observation of the work in progress, and discrepancies noted.
