Full Job Description

You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Ocean Engineering Department of PSNS and IMF.

Salary Ranges: GS11: $83,935 - $109,122 GS12: $100,602 - $130,786 For GS 12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating testing procedures and work methods to develop technical engineering instructions and project plans on shipboard equipment and component systems in support of shipboard operational testing programs.

For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting technical engineering testing and analysis to identify deficiencies and recommend work methods for shipboard equipment and component systems project planning.

  • You will conduct a comprehensive review of test procedures including required references, NAVSEA manuals, specifications, manufacturer's instructions, and interpret references to determine that tests can be performed.
  • You will conduct pre-overhaul tests prior to ship's arrival and measure performance characteristics of the systems and document deficiencies for corrective action during overhaul.
  • You will review all pertinent test documents related to assigned tests and arrange for all test equipment to be aboard ship and properly calibrated.
  • You will conduct briefings and meetings representing the Chief Test Engineer for the purpose of resolving test problems, developing schedules, and providing updates.
  • You will develop integrated operational test sequences dictated by procedures and site conditions coordinating the personnel and equipment required to conduct tests.
  • You will conduct functional installation checks which involve a physical sighting for the installed systems prior to the start of tests.
  • You will analyze information and data obtained during on-site testing as a basis for judgments concerning test results.
  • You will develop test documents and procedures for performance of follow-up testing.
