The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Central Region Construction & CIP Support, is looking for an Engineering Assistant 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:This Engineering Assistant 3 position is responsible for reviewing construction records of Highways, Aviation, and Public Facilities construction contracts to ensure that records adequately and accurately document the project.
Duties include review of records, preparation of reports that outline findings and recommendations, and review and certification of the final payment.
Other duties include assisting with staff training regarding Contract Administration and technical reviews to improve current processes or specifications.

The Quality Assurance Section ensures construction project records are accurate, complete, and compliant with contract requirements.
We confirm documentation supports contractor payments and identify opportunities to strengthen project delivery through mentoring and training.
As a Reviewer, you play a key role in meeting Federal Highway Administration and Federal Aviation Administration quality assurance requirements.
Your work supports proper federal funding allocation and ensures project records are audit ready.

The working environment you can expect:This position is located in the Anchorage District office (4111 Aviation Avenue). The reviewers will review project records on-site during construction. Travel requirements range from single day trips to multi-day/overnight assignments. Periodic travel in small planes is required.

Special Note:- A valid Driver's License is required for this position.
- Requires frequent travel within the state.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET.
AND
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Or:
A bachelor's degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET.
AND
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
AND
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitutions:
Four years of any combination of ABET accredited postsecondary education in engineering, architecture, or land surveying (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and/or engineering, architectural or land surveying experience may substitute for the required degree.
Graduate study in engineering or architecture may be substituted for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).
