ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS!
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Central Region Construction & CIP Support, is looking for an Engineering Assistant 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:This Engineering Assistant 3 position serves as the Senior Quality Assurance Rover. This position will coordinate the Construction Materials closeout among the other Rovers.
In addition, this position will create material summaries and acceptance actions, perform assurance sampling and testing, field lab inspections, records reviews and preparation of materials certifications.
They also provide training in DOT&PF procedures, in classroom settings as well as one-on-one coaching in the field, as needed.

The working environment you can expect:This position is permanently stationed in Anchorage and will include frequent travel during summer construction, including flights to rural villages. The work will include material sampling and testing on projects site, design plan reviews, materials closeout reviews and assisting with training. The successful incumbent will be interacting with project staff, project managers, as well as other working groups both inside and outside of the Department of Transportation.

- Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results. Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules.
- Quality Assurance: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools of quality assurance and quality control used to ensure a product fulfills functional requirements and standards.
Special Note:- A valid Driver's License is required for this position.
- Requires frequent travel within the state.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET.
AND
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Or:
A bachelor's degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET.
AND
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
AND
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitutions:
Four years of any combination of ABET accredited postsecondary education in engineering, architecture, or land surveying (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and/or engineering, architectural or land surveying experience may substitute for the required degree.
Graduate study in engineering or architecture may be substituted for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).
