Requirements

The Loudoun County, Virginia, Department of Building and Development (Department) is seeking applications for the position of Engineer I/Project Management Technician on the Engineering Team. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Performing entry level engineering review for less complicated land development applications. Performs full project management duties for a limited number of plan revision applications.
• Performing administrative and final review tasks associated with project closeout. Manages the processing of associated easement plat applications.
• Performing engineering review of building/zoning permits to verify conformance with civil engineering plans. Coordinates directly with applicants and internal staff to correct discrepancies.
• Serving as a liaison between the Engineering and Infrastructure Compliance Teams, providing engineering-level support as needed during the performance bond release process.
• Facilitating transparent government operations by updating project records and databases completely and accurately.
• Providing good customer service by responding to citizen inquiries regarding procedures, regulations, application status, and other relevant data available to the Department.

The ideal candidate will be a highly effective communicator capable of conveying complex technical information in a clear and tactful fashion. The ideal candidate will possess a civil engineering or construction background which demonstrates resourcefulness, flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in relevant computer systems and be comfortable communicating through virtual media.


This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County’s Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Salary commensurate with experience.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal, credit, and DMV background checks.
Must be able to inspect existing sites and active construction projects and may be exposed to inclement weather while in the field.
