Summary

This job involves working as an engineer to design, test, and maintain advanced tracking systems for undersea and multi-domain test ranges, ensuring they perform reliably for military operations.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a General Engineer in the AUTEC Test Operations of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

The ND-4 pay band GS-12 and GS-13.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band ND-03 (GS-09/11 Equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as an engineer applying systems engineering principles to lead projects for the development, test and evaluation, and sustainment of complex systems (such as tracking, target, or data acquisition systems) for undersea or multi-domain test ranges.

  • You will perform a variety of complex tasks involving research, design, development, and evaluation of state-of-the-art systems and equipment.
  • You will provide engineering oversight for the operational readiness and performance of complex in-air tracking systems, including radar, telemetry, communications and optical instrumentation.
  • You will ensure systems meet mission requirements for tracking airborne vehicles and weapon systems.
  • You will plan, direct, and conduct comprehensive tests and evaluations to verify and validate the performance of new or modified range systems, concepts, and theories.
  • You will analyze test data to resolve performance issues and recommend system enhancements.
  • You will lead and perform research, design, and development tasks for state-of-the-art equipment and systems.
  • You will develop solutions to advanced tracking technology, resolve system integration problems, and enhance capabilities for target detection, and data acquisition.
  • You will serve as a project manager or technical lead for engineering projects related to system upgrades, modernization, and installation.
  • You will develop project plan, define technical requirements, manage resources, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • You will conduct complex engineering studies and analyses on system performance, reliability, and interoperability.
  • You will prepare and present comprehensive technical documentation, including analyses, reports, and formal briefings to leadership and stakeholders to communicate findings and influences decisions.
  • You will provide engineering oversight for the operational readiness and performance of complex target systems across multiple domains (air, surface, and sub-surface).
