Full Job Description

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Industrial Production Branch, Industrial Operations Division, Elizabeth City, NC.

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience.

Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Ability to perform the work of Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.

(Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc Theory of Electronics.

Troubleshooting (Aviation Electronic Equipment).

Use of Test Equipment: Electronics NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

You will serve as an Electronics Mechanic (Avionics) and be responsible for performing aircraft electronics mechanic journeyman level duties.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and performs final functional and operational tests of complex electronic systems, components, and accessories Assisting engineering personnel in modifying existing systems or in developing repair procedures for new systems.

Maintain the tools, equipment, and supplies of the trade involved. Performing maintenance and repair procedures on major electronic systems and troubleshooting complex electronic systems.

Manufacturing a variety of aircraft specific or specialized "breakout boxes" and panels to facilitate testing and troubleshooting of electronic systems
