Full Job Description

This position is in the Cybersecurity and Communications Reliability Division (CCR), Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB), Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, DC.

Relocation expenses will not be paid. THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL ADDITIONAL POSITIONS WITHIN 90 DAYS.

AND SUBPART B-REQUIRED QUALIFICATION CRITERIA GS-15 Specialized Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 in the Federal service.

For this position, specialized experience includes the following: 1. Providing expert advice on the security of emergency alerting systems and telecommunications networks. 2.

Developing proposals on how the Commission can act to improve the security and reliability of communications infrastructure. 3.

Planning and directing special communication studies with manufacturers, carriers, and/or service providers. 4.

Planning and directing policies related to the reliability and security of wireless, wireline, satellite, broadcast, satellite, and cable networks. 5.

Preparing visual renditions of reliability and security data for decision support.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

The incumbent serves as a senior level technical advisor and subject matter expert on the reliability and security of communications networks (with particular focus on cyber-related attacks, threats and vulnerabilities).

The incumbent provides leadership in the execution of all facets of the Commission's communications security and reliability work programs; and provides oral and written analysis and recommendations to the Division Chief and other senior bureau and agency officials.

He/she reports directly to CCR management.
