This role involves leading a team of electricians at a naval shipyard, where you'll guide them in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems on submarines and ships.
You'll provide hands-on training, ensure safety and procedures are followed, and resolve issues to keep projects on track.
It's a great fit for an experienced electrician with strong leadership skills who enjoys working in a team environment on complex naval projects.
You will serve as a ELECTRICAN LEADER in the Electrical/Electronics Shop (Code 950) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Applying electrical and electronic trade theory and techniques in order to lead journeyman mechanics through instruction and demonstration of proper work methods.
Determining troubleshooting method various components, tanks, and systems associated with naval submarines and surface ships.
Providing on the job training for workers, corrects improper electrician work methods, ensures assigned work procedures, such as TGI's, process instructions and work related shipyard instructions and processes are being followed.
Experience installing electrical hook-up and check-out of complex electrical ship alterations and power and control equipment for electronics.
Verifying work progress and ensure that the proper protective equipment is being used and safety practices are being followed by crew members.
Ensuring crew members follow the work sequences, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. Experience in shipyard work control and tag-out procedures to support electrical work evolutions.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work orders.
