Full Job Description

Under immediate supervision, is responsible for assisting a Journeyman Electrician in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, motors, and related equipment, and air-conditioning systems in City-owned buildings. An employee in this classification is responsible for the performance of minor electrical work and repairs under the close supervision of an Electrician.

Work Hours
6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.; Monday - Friday. Shifts are subject to change to accommodate weekends, holiday shift work, and rotating on-call schedules as dictated by business needs.

Requirements

Assists in stringing wiring lead joints, putting up brackets and cleat cables, and drilling bolt holes.Assists the Electrician in repairing electric motors and generators; installing inside wiring; installing, repairing, and connecting or disconnecting transformers and similar power station equipment and local communication systems.Operates tools and equipment of the electrical trade to assist the Electrician in constructing service meter loops on exterior of buildings and any service cable or wiring in conjunction with exterior work.Drives truck hauling tools and materials as required; mixes and pours concrete when required, occasionally lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds.Furnishes Electricians with tools and materials as required.Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).Must enroll within one (1) year in an electrician apprenticeship program.Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.Preferred QualificationsPossession of Electrician Apprentice license, or enrollment in Electrician Apprentice program.Ability to read and write English.Basic computer skills.Familiar with SAP/CRM computer systems.Applicant InformationIf selected for this position, official transcripts, diplomas, certifications and licenses must be submitted at the time of processing.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
