EDN WAN Supervisor

(IT Network & Telecommunications-Senior Specialist)

About the position
This position is a part of WaTech’s Network Services Division (NSD) and reports to the Enterprise Data Networks Manager.

As the Enterprise Data Networks (EDN) Wide Area Networks (WAN) Supervisor, you will supervise the Technical Account Managers (TAMs) and Business Support Coordinators (BSCs) who are responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of data network services for state and local government, higher-education customers, and business tracking of vendor monetary and delivery performance.

In this role you will translate technological options into business terms and advise senior management on state-wide technology solutions for state agencies.

Requirements

Some of what to expect with this role:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to personnel.
  • Direct and monitor Enterprise Data Network technical account managers and business support coordinators.
  • Manage the development and implementation of standards and procedures for Enterprise Data Networks.
  • Analyze business requirements, physical network needs, capacity projections, configuration requirements, standards, and network configurations to ensure WaTech customers receive network circuits that fulfill their operational needs.
  • Lead the assessment of industry direction and emerging capabilities to ideate new EDN capabilities.
  • Translate technological options into business terms and advise senior management on technology solutions for mission-critical business problems.
  • Develop and manage the implementation of standards and procedures for Enterprise Data Networks, engineering, implementation, performance monitoring, and integration of new technologies.
  • Lead interagency work groups to engineer, quote, and deliver multi-service solutions or respond to requests for proposals.

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Eleven (11) total years of progressive work experience in information technology, specializing in network technologies.

A bachelor’s degree in a technology-focused field can be substituted in lieu of four years of experience.The 11 years must include: Three years of progressive supervisor or team lead experience.

  • Two years of experience in large-scale WAN networks, implementing network solutions that employ Ethernet.
  • Two years of recent project management experience, managing IT project framework deliverables such as proposals, work breakdown structures (WBSs) and project timelines.
  • Two years of experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Two years of recent experience in vendor management and vendor contracting.
    • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
    • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.


    Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:

    • Certifications in Professional Leadership, Project Management, Network management, CISCO, and/or ITIL.

    Additional Information

    Telework: This position is approved for telework. However, the incumbent is required to be onsite in our Olympia, Washington office as needed to conduct supervisor duties and meet with vendors or customers.
