Full Job Description

Registered Nurse 2

Yakima Valley School Residential Habilitation Center, is hiring a temporary Registered Nurse to provide compassionate and skilled care for adults with developmental disabilities in a supported living setting.

Your work will help people live healthier, more comfortable lives—often in ways they can’t easily ask for themselves.

You’ll be part of an interdisciplinary team that includes doctors, therapists, caregivers, and other nurses who all share the same goal: giving people the dignity, safety, and support they deserve.

The individuals you’ll care for may have complex health needs and communicate in different ways, so we’re looking for someone who can listen closely, think clearly, and act with empathy.

This role is for someone who’s ready to bring clinical skill, sound judgment, and strong communication to a meaningful environment. If you’re someone who pays attention and wants to help others thrive, we’d love to see your application.

Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Please note that the schedule for this position is: Monday-Friday 10:00am - 6:30pm.

Some of what you will do
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a doctor or nurse practitioner. Examples of treatments; enteral feedings, respiratory therapy, skin care and bowel care, IM injections, etc.
  • Assess any change in condition and report concerns to the doctor, nurse practitioner, or supervisor.
  • Speak with family members/guardians and care teams to share health updates.
  • Chart medications, treatments, and health details in the clinical record/Electronic Health Record (EHR) accurately.
  • Correctly document, transcribe and implement verbal and telephone physicians orders.
  • Record your observations and any important health updates about residents in their clinical record.
  • Help in different units around campus when assigned.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Admit/discharge respites that use short term stay services
  • Review admission orders and enter medication orders in the EHR
  • Enter admission data into the EHR (code status, history, allergies)
  • Prepare discharge paperwork, including medications lists and follow up instructions
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and initiate care plans.
