DSHS Rainier - Laundry Worker 2
The Department of Social and Health Services is seeking a Laundry Worker 2 to join the team at Rainier School located in Buckley, WA. In this position, you will coordinate and perform all phases of laundry operations—ensuring clean, safe, and ready-to-use clothing and linens in a large institutional setting.

You will work with commercial-grade equipment, maintain safety and infection control standards, and help keep our operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on, active job where your attention to detail and commitment to safety will make a daily difference in the lives of the people we serve.

About Rainier School
Rainier School is a Residential Habilitation Center providing 24-hour care and services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Located in Buckley, Washington, our campus offers vocational training, therapeutic care, recreational activities, and daily living support in a scenic setting with views of Mount Rainier.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Some of what you'll do in this role:

• Wash, dry, fold, and sort laundry for residents.
• Operate large commercial washers, dryers, and ironing machines.
• Sort and prepare clothing and linens for cleaning.
• Follow safety and infection control procedures, including using PPE.
• Keep track of laundry inventory and fill supply requests.
• Submit maintenance requests when equipment needs repair.
• Help train new staff on laundry procedures.
• Keep the laundry area clean and ready for the next shift.

Who should apply?
Individuals with at least six months of experience as a Laundry Worker 1, or equivalent experience in a large commercial or large institutional laundry.
Completion of a training course in laundry operations may substitute for three months of required experience.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities we are looking for:

• Chemical safety: Can safely and correctly use laundry chemicals.
• Equipment operation: Skill in operating laundry machines, extractors, mangles, and ironers properly.
• Quality control: Consistently meets standards for washing, drying, and ironing institutional textiles.
• Organizational skills: Capable of counting, marking, sorting, bundling, and tying laundry accurately.
• Patience and respect: Works with patience, kindness and professionalism in a diverse environment.
• Communication: Communicates effectively with management, peers, and clients to support operations.
