This job involves managing a state commission focused on improving long-term care services for older adults through the WA Cares Fund, a pioneering program that provides benefits for home and community-based support.
You'll coordinate meetings, develop policy recommendations, draft reports for lawmakers, and analyze proposed bills to ensure the program runs smoothly and addresses key issues like funding and eligibility.
It's a great fit for someone passionate about social policy, experienced in healthcare or social services, and skilled at working with diverse groups to solve complex problems.
Are you familiar with the home and community-based services for older adults? Are you interested in policy-making for WA Cares Fund?
We are excited to be hiring a dynamic professional to join our WA Cares Fund team as the Long-Term Services and Supports Trust Commission Manager and Legislative Coordinator.
The WA Cares Fund is the first program of its kind in the United States and is the latest example of why Washington State is a national leader in long-term care policy.
Our team is responsible for designing and implementing the program and helping Washingtonians understand this new benefit.
As the LTSS Trust Commission Manager and Legislative Coordinator, you will make critical contributions not only to facilitate recommendations from the Commission but also to strategic planning and policy development.
You’ll use your experience and expertise in community-based services for older adults to support informed decision-making by the Commission to solve complex problems.
The LTSS Trust Commission members include agency leadership at DSHS, the Employment Security Department, and the Health Care Authority, as well as governor-appointed representatives of key constituencies related to long-term care in the state.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate across state agencies to develop feasible solutions to policy issues identified by the Commission.
You will also be responsible for leading bill analysis for the WA Cares Fund Division during legislative session.
Over the last two years, the LTSS Trust Commission has made critical recommendations to the state legislature to improve and strengthen the WA Cares Fund program. If you are interested in continuing this work as we approach implementation, we want to hear from you!
