Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900
Typical requirements: Executive-level leadership experience. Senior executive qualifications required.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves helping vulnerable people, like seniors and those with disabilities, by figuring out if they qualify for government aid programs such as long-term care, medical assistance, and food benefits.
You'll conduct detailed interviews, review financial documents, and manage cases to ensure they get the right support while following state rules.
It's a good fit for someone with experience in financial services or eligibility work who is empathetic, detail-oriented, and comfortable using computers to handle complex cases.
5 years of higher education and/or work experience in financial-based services, including at least one year of experience in areas such as:
- Reviewing or processing loan applications.
- Processing medical insurance or rehabilitation claims.
- Evaluating unemployment insurance claims.
- Assisting staff with financial eligibility determinations.
- Analyzing, verifying, or evaluating financial data.
Comparable experience from another state: Experience conducting financial eligibility determinations for public assistance programs (financial, medical, or food benefits).
A bachelor's degree or higher plus 12 months as a Public Benefits Specialist 2 (long-term care eligibility).
