Full Job Description

We are recruiting for experienced, journey-level Plumbers to join our team. You will perform plumbing and pipefitting work on commercial and residential buildings.

This job is located at the DSHS Shoreline Campus.

  • This job offers stability in the trades, yet provides you a variety of projects that need your skills.
  • You'll have a fixed day shift schedule of consistent work, with usually a 3-day weekend off.
  • There is no traveling for plumbing work.
  • You'll work with an interesting blend of old and new building systems, working on a variety of equipment.

Some of what you'll do
  • Install, test, inspect, maintain, and repair storm sewers, septic tanks and sewage mains, booster pump systems, waste drain lines, hot water heaters, backflow or cross connection devices, and water mains; commercial/residential bathroom, laundry, and kitchen plumbing fixtures; balancing valves, hydrants and water coolers
  • Operate and repair lift stations, which include pumps, inlet/outlet piping, air reliefs, aligning motor pump belt pulleys, rotating assemblies; checking for wear spacing between wear plate and impellers; perform pump station operation maintenance
  • Shop work such as refacing and reseating valves, cutting and threading pipe, bending pipe, replacing pump bushings and washers, testing valves and other pressure equipment
  • Clean and maintain tools
  • Estimate materials and time needed to complete jobs

What we're looking for
Valid driver's license + Journey-level standing as a Plumber as attested by:
  • WA State L&I Journey-level Plumber Certification (PL01)
  • Or, completion of a recognized apprenticeship in plumbing (i.e. 8000 hours plumbing work experience or two years plumbing trade school)
  • Or, full journey-level status in a Plumber and Pipefitters Union
Desired
  • Ability to work from blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to move in a confined space and on ladders, work with chemicals, and necessary hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of standard practices and methods used in the plumbing trade
