Job Description

Summary

This role involves teaching driver education to students at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind, using approved lesson plans, tracking student progress with data, and incorporating technology to make learning engaging and safe.

The instructor must create a respectful classroom environment, manage student behavior effectively, and develop individualized education plans to meet each student's needs.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a CAEP approved training program or eligibility for SC certification via alternative routes

  • Ability to implement appropriate communication modalities or acquire necessary skills for deaf and blind students
  • Experience or ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance learning and manage the classroom
  • Skills in data analysis to measure student progress and provide feedback

Full Job Description

Implement and refine district approved curriculum to meet the evolving educational needs of students. Systematically gather, analyze, and use data to measure student progress, guide instruction, and provide timely feedback. Uses technology effectively to enhance student learning and to manage the classroom. Maintain a safe student-centered learning environment that is engaging and respectful. Manage classroom with clear, consistent expectations for student behavior with an aim to create a calm, safe, orderly learning community. Develop and implement IEPs consistent with compliance requirements. Complete additional special educational actions and attend meetings as applicable as part of student’s educational team.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Completion of a CAEP approved training program or eligible for SC certification through the State Department of Education’s approved alternative certification routes.

Valid SC certification (or is eligible to obtain a SC certification) in the subject area(s) employed to teach.

Ability to implement appropriate communication modality and/or to acquire requisite skills.

Additional Information
