Key Requirements

What You Will Be Doing

The Department of Administration is seeking a strategic and experienced leader to serve as Division Director of Finance (Payroll & Accounting). This position oversees payroll and accounting systems, ensuring accurate financial recording, reporting, and budgetary compliance for all State agencies.

As Division Director, you will lead professional teams responsible for disbursements (payroll, warrants, and charge card activity), general ledger operations, statewide financial systems, and production of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

You will also manage the State’s travel program, establish travel policy, negotiate the Statewide Cost Allocation Plan (SWCAP), and serve as a key liaison with executive leadership and partner agencies.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to guide complex statewide financial operations, support transparency and compliance, and help shape Alaska’s financial strategy.

Requirements

Positions in this job class are in the Partially Exempt Service under AS 39.25.120(c)(2).
