Key Requirements

  • Expert knowledge in hypersonic weaponeering, including kinetic processes, modeling, simulation, test and evaluation, tactics, kill chains, countermeasures, and weapon applications
  • Expert knowledge in hypersonic design and performance, covering fundamental principles, aero sciences, assessments, leadership in weapon concepts, and platform integration
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams across Department of War, Joint, Navy Research, Naval Sea Systems Command, and other defense entities
  • Experience conducting 50% or more of time on hypersonic research and development for complex weapon systems
  • Proven track record in influencing and advising senior (Flag/SES) leadership on hypersonic warfare and technology maturation

Full Job Description

You will serve as Distinguished Scientist/Engineer for Hypersonic Weapon Systems Development & Integration of NAVSURFWARCENDLD.

The Secretary of War has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze.

Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

Expert knowledge in hypersonic weaponeering and warfare to include kinetic processes, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, integration based on knowledge of tactics, kill chains, countermeasures and weapon system applications.

Expert knowledge in hypersonic design and performance to include fundamental design principles, aero sciences, performance assessments based on leadership and knowledge of weapon systems concepts, platform integration.

  • You will lead research in the areas of weapon system technology maturation, weapon system development, weapon system control, weapon system integration, and weapon system test and evaluation.
  • You will conduct hypersonic research and development for complex weapon systems.
  • You will guide and influence the direction of hypersonic weapon development efforts at the national, international, DoW, and DoN levels.
  • You will lead multi-disciplinary teams and tasking across DoW, Joint, NR and DE, NAVSEA, and NSWCDD.
  • You will be expected to perform 50% conducting hypersonic research and development.
  • You will influence and advise the Flag/SES level to improve the depth of knowledge of hypersonic weapon system warfare efforts.
