UNCLASSIFIED POSITION

CURRENT VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in public relations, electronic media management or a related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in public relations, electronic media management or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.


Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

EXAMINATION:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.

Requirements

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to manage and maintain the County's social media accounts, to manage and update content on public and employee intranet sites, and to represent the Department on various committees.

Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Maintains and updates the County's social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube: posts relevant and engaging content to social media sites daily regarding County activities and events; posts links to articles and photographs appearing on County website; ensures all content meets standards and guidelines.

Creates, edits and publishes newsletters: researches and writes articles and develops content for a variety of newsletters; consults with Graphic Designer regarding layout of newsletters; edits and approves final drafts of newsletters; distributes newsletters via email or posting to public or employee intranet sites as appropriate.

Manages and updates web content for public and employee intranet sites: edits and approves content prior to posting; manages amount of content posted; uploads and converts files for posting to ensure proper formatting.

Participates on County Web Team: manages Communications related projects; maintains and manages website content; department content; makes updates and changes to all content as needed.

Monitors County email accounts; check various email accounts daily; receives and responds to inquiries via email; assigns emails to various departments for response as needed.

Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including social media statistics; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.

Operates a personal computer and hand-held mobile device to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.

Communicates with County officials, supervisor, other employees, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
