This job involves fixing and maintaining diesel vehicles, trucks, and construction machinery like rollers and sweepers for Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation, helping keep highways and equipment running smoothly.
You'll perform routine checks, repairs on engines and systems, and sometimes work on-site to provide emergency services.
It's a great fit for someone with hands-on mechanical experience who enjoys practical work and contributing to public infrastructure.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing skilled maintenance and repair tasks on a diverse range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and tractors, as well as various types of construction machinery such as rollers, sweepers, and mixers, along with powered hand tools.
Your duties will encompass repairs on diesel equipment, excluding diagnostics, parts rebuilding, and the repair of air brake systems and diesel engine fuel injection systems, including injectors and pumps.
You will also implement a preventive maintenance program for vehicles, equipment, and components, which involves performing oil changes, conducting automotive mechanical diagnostics, executing tune-ups, changing tires, and repairing or replacing engine sub-assemblies.
Additionally, you will handle cooling system repairs and adjustments, as well as work on suspension, electrical, heating and air conditioning, fuel, brake, steering, and driveline systems.
Field adjustments will be necessary to ensure safe operation and reduce wear on equipment.
You will carry out minor repairs and preventive maintenance tasks, which include cleaning and servicing equipment.
Furthermore, you will demonstrate repair techniques on assigned equipment to fellow employees and assist other Diesel Mechanics with major repairs.
Maintaining accurate equipment records will also be part of your responsibilities.
In addition, you will provide emergency road service and may occasionally perform maintenance and repairs in field environments at County Stockpiles.
