About Violence Against Women Act
About Human Trafficking

Assists the Director of Violence Against Women Act and Human Trafficking Programs in the administration of the section including the work of the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force. Manages program staff, specific to the VAWA programs and grant, the prevention education efforts, research projects, data collection, development, and the internship program. Provides management, leadership, supervision, and guidance to staff on related projects. Ensures the execution of projects within a timely fashion and assists in the coordination of responsibilities. Exercises sound judgement in developing and implementing section policies and procedures while ensuring collaboration amongst staff and external relations with advocates, victims, service providers, law enforcement, and other stakeholders. Regularly reports to the Director regarding the status of goals and objectives pertaining to the section. Other responsibilities as assigned. Occasional overnight travel may be required for in state and out of state conferences, trainings, and meetings.

Ensures successful administration and coordination of the VAWA grant to ensure the continuity and expansion of all VAWA-related programming.

Supervises the coordinator of the annual Silent Witness Ceremony, training and programming for VAWA-related topics, and coordinating and participating in the planning and preparation of grand reports.

Directs all administrative activities related to the successful development and implementation of a statewide prevention education initiative.

Provide technical assistance and coordinates with state and local agencies, as well as non-profit agencies, upon request for the development of programs and projects, or the improvement of existing programs and projects, in VAWA-related topic areas.

  • Coordinate with local universities and colleges to help recruit for the Office’s Internship program. Works with HR to select, train, and supervise undergraduate and/or graduate-level students and formalize the VAWA/HT onboarding process for student interns and staff.
  • Supports the creation and successful submission of all federal and state VAWA/HT grant and procurement applications by working with the Director of VAWA/HT.

    Develops preliminary drafts of application-specific narratives, general grant language, and reports.

    Assists in record keeping for all current and archived grants, including award letters, grant application materials, thematic narrative responses, goals and outcomes, etc.

  • Serves as the liaison between Director and assigned SCHTTF committees.

    Requirements

    A Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in the anti-human trafficking field or VAWA related programs.

    Additional Requirements:
    • Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
    • Position requires a valid driver’s license and frequent driver duties.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree and VAWA-related programming experience, as well as an understanding of other issues that often intersect.
    • Knowledge of an agency's mission, programs, and objectives.
    • Knowledge of management principles.
    • Knowledge of an agency's organizational structure, the people who manage the work, and the processes applicable to government work.
    • Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
    • Ability to manage work and provide guidance to employees.
    • Ability to make presentations and prepare reports.
