Job Description

Summary

This job involves creating and improving advanced data systems to handle large amounts of information for the U.S.

Cyber Command, focusing on making data analysis faster and more reliable for defense needs.

It requires strong skills in math, statistics, and computer science to design innovative solutions for complex data projects.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (at least 30 semester hours in a relevant major)

  • Experience in cybersecurity principles, threats, vulnerabilities, or managing data development life cycles
  • Ability to develop and automate large-scale data processing systems and tools to enhance data quality and analytics
  • Proficiency in designing innovative data analytics approaches using mathematical, statistical, and scientific methods
  • Skills in planning, conducting, and evaluating statistical data analytics projects, including sampling plans and procedures
  • Experience modifying and refining existing applications, processes, and techniques to address deficiencies

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - DBC/SERVICES DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements: Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.

The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

AND Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as working with computer networking concepts and protocols or network security methodologies or cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities or managing frameworks to facilitate the data development life cycle.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Develops and automates large scale, high-performance data processing systems and tools to improve data quality and volume, accelerate iteration cycles, and improve the ability to deliver superior enabled analytics capabilities for DISA.
  • Designs cutting edge/innovative approaches to complex data analytics projects utilizing various mathematical, statistical and other scientific methodologies, programs, processes, and methods.
  • Plans and conducts statistical data analytics projects and/or studies to evaluate, design, and tabulate statistical sampling plans and analytical procedures and processes.
  • Defines deficiencies/shortfalls and corrective actions and executes any revisions.
  • Modifies, adapts, and/or refines existing applications, processes, precedents, and techniques.
