Job Description

Summary

This job involves using data analysis and modeling to assess risks in military supply chains, helping ensure secure and efficient delivery of goods from production to disposal.

You'll tackle complex problems with large datasets to predict issues and improve processes for the Department of Defense.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • One year of specialized experience at GS-13 level (for GS-14) in quantitative evaluation of supply chain risks, data science, and predictive analysis
  • Expertise in scientific methods like regression, decision trees, probability, game theory, and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in data science, AI/machine learning, system analysis, risk analysis, and computer simulation
  • Ability to design, build, and apply models for simulations of supply chain environments
  • Experience leading technical direction, planning, and policy development for data and risk assessment processes
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to meet federal security clearance requirements (implied for DoD role)

See DCMA Location List, not all locations may be available. To qualify for a Data Scientist (Supply Chain), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Basic Requirements: A.

Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.

The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR B.

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. AND C.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.

To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-13: Formulating and developing sophisticated models and techniques for quantitative evaluation and assessment of supply chain risks and their effect on accomplishing customer missions.

Providing basic technical expertise in data science, system analysis, risk analysis, predictive analysis, and computer simulation.

Applying knowledge of state of the art and emerging technologies related to data, analysis, and risk disciplines, methods, theories, and techniques.

Designing and building models for standard, non-complex simulations.

GS-14: Applying scientific methods, to include, regression, decision tree analytics, probability and game theory, and statistical analysis to research and improve supply chain risk assessment processes.

Providing technical direction, planning, and leadership to create and implement new agency data and supply chain risk assessment policy and processes.

Providing a high level of technical expertise in data science, intelligence, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), system analysis, risk analysis, predictive analysis, and computer simulation.

Using standard-type models to simulate real world environments. Major Duties:

  • Perform professional work in data science, system analysis, risk analysis, predictive analysis, computer simulation, and program/project planning and controls.
  • Solve problems encountered, analysis, and integration of large and heterogenous volumes of data related to supply chain security risk assessments, for which little or no precedent exists, and where unconventional approaches are required.
  • Conduct major data, system, and risk analyses on end-to-end supply chain, which includes item manufacturing and acquisition, storage and distribution, and disposition.
  • Apply mathematical, statistical, or scientific analysis to novel problems to determine relationships and predict outcomes, yielding original findings.
