Job Description

Summary

This job is for a senior data scientist working with the Defense Logistics Agency to manage and analyze data systems that support military operations in Europe and Africa.

The role involves advising leaders on data integration, designing studies to meet strategic needs, and building frameworks to share knowledge using advanced technologies.

See below for important information regarding this job. To qualify for a Data Scientist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A.

Basic Education Requirement: A bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.

The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. B.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.

To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: Experience in computer science practices, concepts, principles theories, and mathematical and statistical theories, techniques, and methods to gather, analyze, design, and evaluate new modeling processes for reporting information and trends within data systems.

Experience in analytical and statistical methods and techniques to conduct detailed analyses to determine a required Knowledge Management framework and its associated requirements, feasibility, usability, and sustainability.

Experience and understanding of information management processes/systems, policies, procedures, logistics systems, organization as well as planning systems for DoD, Combatant Commands, NATO, and Military Major Service Components.

Combination: Combinations of courses equivalent to a major field of study (30) semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for grade level GS-13 may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.

The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-13.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Regional Program Manager for DLA data integration in the regional command DLA Europe and Africa.
  • Provides expert advice to senior leadership within the Regional Command, forward Major Subordinate Commands, and DLA Liaison and Support Teams on DLA Data, systems, analysis, and integration supporting the joint force across Europe and Africa.
  • Develops and designs source studies on applications, systems, and data to understand Agency strategic requirements and regional Areas of Responsibility.
  • Executes Knowledge Management and information sharing, establishing a framework to ensure the capture, harnessing, and exploitation of intellectual capital, using and leveraging the latest technologies for the organization and supporting customers.
  • Aids the Command in achieving its mission by researching, collecting, and analyzing relevant DLA data; reviewing and analyzing organizational activities; and recommending approaches/procedures to improve data integration with data-driven options.
