Full Job Description

Direct-Hire Auth (Cyber), PL 118-31, Sec 1250B(i)(2), 12/22/2023 This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command, Transportation Command.

You may qualify at the GS 11, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis and investigative techniques to synthesize data, evaluate significant factors, and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work operations.

Apply pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources.

Make decisions concerning such things as interpretation of considerable data, planning of the work, or refinement of the methods and techniques to be used. AND B.

Degree; Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.

The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR C.

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience and Qualifications: Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1560, series as listed below: Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.

As a DATA SCIENTIST at the GS-1560-11 some of your typical work assignments may include: Direct, manage, and lead pioneering efforts in developing innovative applications and data visualization projects for USTRANSCOM workforce metrics and other data driven projects to support Human Capital Strategy.

Research and collaborate to identify data sources that can be leveraged to generate USTRANSCOM workforce metrics.

Gather, store, and process structured data from DoD personnel and personnel-related websites to produce metrics.

Analyze Workforce Data to identify correlations between leading and lagging trends and with other factors.

Perform complete studies of limited scope to identify potential remedies and provide recommendations to sustain and improve workforce health or performance.

Communicate findings orally and in writing and performs Functional Area Communications Computer Systems Manager (FACCSM) duties to facilitate directorate information and technology commodity requirements.

Conduct research in the areas of analytical technologies and business processes to recommend methodologies to better leverage data analytics in support of USTRANSCOM objectives.
