Position is responsible for performing work of moderate difficulty in the reviewing, processing, and maintenance of property tax records using standard office equipment to process and research to processes and research Treasurer's surplus claims.
Agency Summary
The purposed of the Marion County Treasurer's Office is to bill, collect, invest, and distribute property taxes and provides financial analysis related to these functions.

Conducts research for delinquent taxes and/or liens for employees of all political subdivisions (libraries, state, city/county, schools). Researches and prepares various clearances (i.e.
Alcoholic Beverage permits, mobile homes moving and/or titling permits and permits for license from City Controller).
Processes incoming tax payments and correspondence daily and there is a higher volume during seasonal periods. Processes delinquent mail and files the envelopes in numerical order by parcel number.
Conducts research for Sheriff Sale of delinquent property taxes and/or liens.
Greets visitors, answers questions in person and on the phone for the public and other government agencies in relation to tax records, current and past.
Transfers phone calls to other offices as necessary, takes messages, verifies accurate information is provided for permits, clearances, etc. Assists the public on tax sale related issues.
Maintains Tax Statement Distribution files.

Qualifications High School Diploma, Associates preferred, with two (2) to four (4) years of clerical experience maintaining real estate property tax records. Excellent communication skills required.
Incumbent needs to be proficient in the Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Applicant should have excellent customer service experience both on the phone and in person.
Previous experience and ability to use a computer, 10-key adding machine, fax/copier machine and fiche reader required.
