Crime Lab Forensic Technician

Full Job Description

The Metro Nashville Police Department Crime Lab Forensic Technician position shall be directly accountable to the MNPD Crime Laboratory Forensic Scientist Supervisor for laboratory analyses support and related duties under extensive supervision. This position may be in the Forensic Biology or Firearms and Tool Mark Identification Unit as vacancies occur.

****Must be willing and able to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.

The Metro Nashville Police Department is a 24/7/365 operation. Requirements

• Completes discipline specific training program.
• May perform limited casework.
• Participates in quality assurance/quality control measures.
• Performs administrative duties.
• Performs inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Participates in professional development.
• Interacts with the judicial system.
• May facilitate internal training program.
• May testify in court.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in a natural science, forensic science, criminalistics, or closely related field.

LICENSE REQUIRED:
Valid Driver License

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. S094-1078, All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
