About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Credentials Program Specialist Patuxent River Naval Health Clinic. Hours of Work: Regular duty hours are Monday through Friday, 0730-1630.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Ensuring providers credentialing and privileging requirements are in compliance with established criteria , 2) Serves as Subject Matter Expert in field of Credentials and Clinical Privileging , and 3) Verifying the authenticity of source documents.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D.

in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Health Care Management or Health Care Administration (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

  • Ensure providers’ credentialing requirements are in compliance with established criteria.
  • Provide guidance to clinic staff in completing required documentation of establishing privileges for healthcare providers.
  • Establish and maintain a Practitioner Credentials file.
  • Verify the authenticity of source documents.
  • Assist the Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator in developing short- and long-term goals necessary to accomplish mission of credentialing.
  • Provide ongoing review of regulatory requirements.
  • Identify resources necessary for accomplishing mission and function of credentials and privileging program.
  • Prepare agendas, slides, and meeting minutes for Medical Executive Committee (MEC) and credentials related meetings.
  • Process the application for delineated clinical privileges either in paper format or Centralized Credentials Quality Assurance System (CCQAS) Electronic Format.
