This temporary job with Colorado Parks and Wildlife involves helping maintain wildlife areas by managing invasive weeds, repairing fences, and keeping equipment in good shape, while also collecting samples from hunter-killed animals for disease testing and selling licenses and passes to the public.
It's a hands-on outdoor role that runs from March to November in a rural Colorado location with housing options.

HIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $17.00 PER HOURAssist the Wildlife Technician with general upkeep and improvements of the State Wildlife Areas in Grand and Summit Counties. Primary duties will include but not limited to: invasive weed management, facility and equipment maintenance, fence repair and construction, operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, ATVs, power and hand tools, data collection and record keeping, and answering wildlife related questions from hunters, anglers, and the general public. These positions will also assist biologists when available. Position is responsible for accepting hunter-harvested deer and elk heads, collecting data, payment and samples for chronic wasting disease (CWD) testing. Position is also responsible for driving relay routes to transport hunter-harvested deer and elk from collection sites to research sampling sites in all weather conditions. Training is provided on how to remove tissue samples from deer and elk for CWD testing and to perform mandatory inspections of hunter-killed moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, black bears and mountain lions. Must be able to maintain a clean and tidy work space between customers. This position will also sell products to customers, including sales of wildlife products (hunting and fishing licenses, refund and duplicate licenses, and hunter education cards), and parks products (parks passes, OHV permits, snowmobile and boat registrations), as well as provide information to customers both in person and on the phone. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who: Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
