Summary

This job involves working as a caseworker in a county office to protect children from abuse and neglect while helping families improve their social, emotional, and economic situations through case management and support services.

It's a full-time, in-office role with standard weekday hours, focused on ensuring child safety and family stability.

Key Requirements

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1, or successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major, or a bachelor's degree supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences plus one year of professional social casework experience
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in relevant social sciences
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including full-time on-site work from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with no telework option
  • Pass a background investigation, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance under the Child Protective Services Law

Requirements

This is professional social services work in a county Children and Youth Agency. Employees in this class provide case management services to children, youth and families to ensure the health and safety of each child in the family and to assist the family in attaining a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional, or physical adjustment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

    Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
