Requirements

In this role, you will perform skilled work involving installation and maintenance of deer fencing and other tasks under the Forest Regeneration Program along with operating heavy-duty trucks and equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of state forest roads, trails, boundaries and facilities. Duties include operation of trucks and combinations, snow groomers and heavy equipment including graders, track loaders, bulldozers and backhoes, hand mowers and lawn tractors, and performing routine service, preventative and some repair maintenance on assigned equipment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately 9 March 2026 until 13 November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
