Summary

This job involves working as a caseworker to support children and families in Fayette County by creating personalized plans for their needs, connecting them to helpful services, and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social welfare or related field, or equivalent combination including 12 credits in sociology, psychology, or similar social sciences
  • One year of professional social casework experience in a public or private agency (if degree lacks social welfare major)
  • Valid driver's license not under suspension
  • Ability to pass PA State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI criminal history clearances
  • Experience or training equivalent to six months as a County Caseworker 1 or completion of County Social Casework Intern program
  • Full-time availability for 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday schedule with no telework
  • Ability to perform essential functions including person-centered planning and monitoring health/safety

Requirements

As a Fayette County Caseworker 2 you will have the following responsibilities:
• Identifying an individual’s support needs and preferences through development of an Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
• Locating options for services that meet the needs of individuals including, but not limited to, traditional providers, community and natural supports
• Facilitating person-centered planning process
• Ensuring services are received as outlined in the ISP
• Ensuring the health and safety of those supported
• Promoting individuality, choice and control in customer’s lives
• Providing quality supports and quality information through monitoring of the health and safety of people receiving supports and services
• Linking customers to services, resources, and benefits


Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
Legal Requirements:
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
