Requirements

In this position you will be responsible for investigating reports of mistreatment and abuse of children and will provide for the safety of those children. Additionally, you are responsible for completing data entry to maintain case documentation for case records. Provides crisis intervention where appropriate, assuming on-call duties and responsibilities on a rotational basis. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Completion of training and Caseworker Certification is required after employment begins.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 1-hour lunch.
    • Overtime, after-hours work, and on-call are mandatory.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 1 day a week after approval of supervisor and must hold regular status as Caseworker 1.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

    Additional details may be provided during the interview.

  • Salary: Annual salary starts at $46,878 plus overtime and on-call pay. After the completion of eighteen (18) months, the employee will earn County Caseworker 2 certification with an annual salary of $52,202.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.


Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
