Requirements

As a Corrections Unit Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight of all security and treatment programs within designated housing units. In this leadership role, you will define the unit's mission and operational objectives, developing specialized procedures tailored to the specific needs of the population. Your duties will include implementing housekeeping plans to maintain cleanliness and monitoring unit practices to ensure strict compliance with Department of Corrections (DOC) directives, institutional polices, and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards. Additionally, you will lead a multidisciplinary staff, performing a full range of supervisory functions including staff development, problem-solving meetings, and the proactive resolution of conflicts between personnel and inmates. To maintain operational integrity, you will conduct regular tours and inspections, addressing positive and negative findings with the appropriate teams and ensuring maintenance needs are documented promptly. Furthermore, your fiscal and administrative duties will involve developing annual budget requests, chairing staffing committees for inmate custody and parole reviews, and investigating inmate grievances to ensure timely resolutions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,942.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience in a correctional institution/facility in correctional security, treatment, quasi-judicial hearings or counseling; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional experience in a correctional institution/facility in correctional security, treatment, quasi-judicial hearings or counseling.


Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
