Requirements

As a Psychological Services Specialist, Corrections, you will provide psychological services to address the mental health and general emotional adjustment needs of inmates. You will develop counseling and therapy by employing techniques which are most appropriate to modify or manage inmate behavior. Group counseling will address socialization, prison adjustment, offense specific behaviors, treatment plan goals, relaxation training, anger management skills, and sleep hygiene. You will also conduct individual psychotherapy to those inmates who present significant emotional disorders. This role requires solid treatment skills to provide professional services and manage a caseload of inmates independently, as well as a genuine desire to ensure individual mental health and general emotional needs are addressed during incarceration. In addition, you will assist the Licensed Psychologist Manager in developing new educational therapeutic programs and serve as a member of the Program Review, Community Reentry, Parole, Crisis Intervention, and Mental Health Review committees.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years as a Psychological Services Associate Corrections (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• A Master's degree in psychology or a closely related field which includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology; and two years of experience in the field of psychology under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown. PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
