Requirements

As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will maintain an inmate work crew for the purpose of instructing, coaching, and evaluating participants in the trade of refrigeration mechanics.

Instruction will be provided through both classroom and on-the-job training.

Within this role, you will instruct inmates in a variety of trade methods and procedures such as the installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning systems and related equipment.

Strong attention to detail is essential, as you will be documenting inmate attendance and training progress, as well as conducting searches to ensure that all materials and tools are accounted for.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours/week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
