This job involves supervising and supporting people who are transitioning out of prison at a community center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, by monitoring their daily activities, enforcing rules, and helping them prepare for life outside.
You'll handle tasks like logging behaviors, searching for banned items, managing supplies, and leading group orientations to guide residents toward success.
It's a great fit for someone who is patient, organized, and committed to public service, especially if you have experience in security or helping others rebuild their lives.
Are you looking for a meaningful public service career where you can make a lasting difference on the lives of individuals rebuilding their futures?
The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking dedicated, motivated individuals to join our team as Corrections Community Center Monitors.
In this vital role, you will help ensure the care, custody, and supervision of residents transitioning back into society at the state-operated Johnstown Community Corrections Center (CCC).
If you are passionate about guiding reentrants toward successful reintegration with their families and communities, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact.
In this position, your primary responsibility is to ensure the care, custody, and supervision of reentrants assigned to the CCC while supporting fellow staff in guiding and monitoring the progress necessary for each reentrant’s successful program completion.
Daily duties include maintaining activity logs, observing resident behavior, and conducting contraband searches.
You will oversee and manage inventories of prescription medications, security equipment, tools, hazardous materials, and housekeeping supplies.
Responsibilities include maintaining accurate sign-in and sign-out records for reentrants and visitors, as well as regulating movement throughout the facility.
You will lead orientations for new residents by reviewing DOC and CCC policies, rules, and expectations, providing information on available community resources, assigning living quarters, and delegating tasks.
Additionally, you will document daily activities, issue misconduct reports, and participate in disciplinary proceedings.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong professionalism and sensitivity to the concerns of the public and crime victims, responding thoughtfully and appropriately to issues or complaints.
