The Working Environment You Can Expect:
In this role, you will oversee the nursing team at Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC), providing comprehensive nursing care and professional guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality inmate health services.
You will serve in a leadership capacity to plan, organize, and evaluate health operations and electronic health record systems in compliance with institutional policies, regulatory standards, and legal requirements.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.ANDTwo years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse, one of which must have been at the full-performance/journey level.
Examples of this latter experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Corrections Nurse 2, Psychiatric Nurse 2, or Nurse 2 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.Substitution:Combinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med-Surg, Psychiatric, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.Special Note: Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class.
Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of licensure will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment.

Starting salary may be approved up to Step D - $4,749.00, if criteria are met.

Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN.
DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.
Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
