The Department of Corrections State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene is seeking an energetic, motivated person with experience in the safe operation of an institution utility plant.

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township is seeking a Corrections Utility Plant Operator.

Requirements

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you would be responsible for the supervision of inmates and maintaining proper security while ensuring work is performed under safe operating procedures for boiler operations, and generation of medium pressure steam, for heat and hot water for institutional needs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, as institutional needs dictate, with rotating off days and a shift differential of $1.25 per hour.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
