Full Job Description

The Department of Corrections is seeking motivated people to supervise residents of the Erie Community Corrections Center (CCC). We provide a supportive environment for offenders who are preparing to re-enter their communities. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will assist offenders with meeting their goals for re-entry. If you want to help re-entrants return to their families and become contributing members of society, this is the position for you!

Requirements

In this position, you will ensure the safety and security of the CCC by supervising re-entrants and writing your observations in a daily activity log.

Your responsibilities will include conducting re-entrant counts, maintaining the sign-in sheet, and controlling the movement of re-entrants and visitors within the CCC.

You will also conduct breathalyzer tests, urine tests, room inspections, fire drills, and searches for prohibited items.

When new re-entrants arrive, you will teach them the facility rules and provide information on public services.

As needed, you will attend disciplinary hearings and serve as a point of contact for law enforcement agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • You must be able to work in Erie, Pennsylvania.
  • You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • You must successfully complete classroom training at the DOC Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work.

(Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)

  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the military)

  • Legal Requirements:

    • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
