The Department of Corrections is seeking individuals whose primary purpose is to provide care, custody, control, monitoring, and supervision of the re-entrant population housed at a state-operated community corrections center, and to assist other staff in facilitating and monitoring the changes necessary for the offender's successful completion of the program for re-entry back into the community.

The Department of Corrections is seeking individuals whose primary purpose is to provide care, custody, control, monitoring, and supervision of the re-entrant population housed at a state-operated community corrections center, and to assist other staff in facilitating and monitoring the changes necessary for the offender's successful completion of the program for re-entry back into the community.

Requirements

In this position, you will ensure the safety and security of the CCC by supervising re-entrants and recording your observations. This includes maintaining the sign-in sheet for all re-entrants and visitors. You will also conduct breathalyzer tests, urine tests, room inspections, and searches for prohibited items. When new re-entrants arrive at the CCC, you will teach them the facility rules and provide information on public services. As needed, you will be required to attend disciplinary hearings and serve as a point of contact for law enforcement agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • You must be able to work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work.

(Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)

  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the military)

  • Legal Requirements:

    • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
