This job involves supervising people who have been in prison as they prepare to return to everyday life in a community center in York, Pennsylvania.
You'll ensure safety by monitoring them, checking for drugs or banned items, and teaching them the rules while helping them connect with support services.

The Department of Corrections is seeking motivated people to supervise residents of the York Community Corrections Center (CCC).
We provide a supportive environment for offenders who are preparing to re-enter their communities.
Corrections Community Center Monitors positively influence offenders and help them meet their re-entry goals.
If you want to help re-entrants return to their families and become contributing members of society, this is the position for you!

In this position, you will ensure the safety and security of the CCC by supervising re-entrants and recording your observations.
This includes maintaining the sign-in sheet for all re-entrants and visitors. You will also conduct breathalyzer tests, urine tests, room inspections, and searches for prohibited items.
When new re-entrants arrive at the CCC, you will teach them the facility rules and provide information on public services.
As needed, you will be required to attend disciplinary hearings and serve as a point of contact for law enforcement agencies.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work.
(Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
