Requirements

In this position, you will assist with food preparation. Your work will involve operating kitchen equipment, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and utensils, and cleaning work surfaces.

You will package and label ingredients for recipes, assist in testing and developing new recipes, and collaborate on adjustments for modified diets.

Some of your duties will include preparing food items, checking food throughout the cooking process to ensure quality, and assigning tasks to the Food Service Workers.

Additionally, you will manage the inventory of food supplies and assist with training new food service staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch. You will also work holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Experience in cooking or quantity food preparation; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Education in foods, nutrition, dietetics, food service, institutional management or a related field
  • Any formal baking training
  • ServSafe or any other food safety certification
  • Experience as a baker in a large volume preparation operation
  • Experience using and converting standardized recipes
  • Experience mixing, proofing, and finishing yeast raised products in a large scale food service operation
  • Experience baking and decorating cakes and pastries
  • Experience in food service operations for geriatric and/or physically ill patient/resident populations

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
