Summary

This job is for a Controller who oversees the finance team's daily operations, including handling payments, receipts, financial records, and reports to keep the agency's money in order.

Responsibilities

  • You will serve as the Agency’s Controller, managing the daily processes for the finance team related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel expense reimbursement, general ledger and financial reporting.
  • You will be responsible for leading and preparing month and year-end reports, including cash reports, and the fiscal year close out process.
  • You will ensure financial transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations and ensure accurate reconciliations between internal and external financial systems.
  • You will assist with the financial analysis and planning for the licensing boards, including financial forecasting and fee analysis.
  • You will assist with the development of annual cost center budgets, annual budget requests and reports, preparing fiscal impact statements, and preparing other requests for information from Boards and Commissions.
  • You will recommend and assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures related to financial management.
  • You will supervise, train and lead a team of finance employees.
  • You will perform other duties, including but not limited to, assisting with financial audits, preparing annual and quarterly financial reports, providing requests for financial information, providing back-up support work for the Chief Financial Officer and Grants Manager, and leading and overseeing the documentation of processes and job functions for finance positions.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field and professional experience in a related area, such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting, auditing and bookkeeping.
  • Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to perform analysis of financial records.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial data, records and reports.
  • Proficient at Excel.
  • Extensive experience with SCEIS production and Business Warehouse processes and reporting.

Other Requirements

  • Position works in an office and requires extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 25lbs.
  • Occasional work outside of normal Agency business hours, including weekends.
  • Daily telephone and computer use.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and other computer applications.
